As we move into the New Year, we immediately hope this year will be wonderful. Hopefully, we contemplate the past year and what we did, changed and learned or didn’t do, accepted and forgot about.
One of my favorite quotes and I have many is from Anais Nin and is very appropriate for bringing the new and casting off what is over with and no longer useful.
"Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death.” - Anias Nin
This may seem extreme but the idea is simply to understand that life is continually changing for us in many ways that we cannot possibly understand. The "why’s” elude us and we are often left with a feeling of fear and lack of security rather than embracing the changed and having faith that it may be what is needed and best for us in the long run. So please continue to move forward, remove what no longer makes you happy or peaceful, look ahead of you rather than behind and know that like the ship that stays docked in the harbor; new growth or experiences rarely come from staying in the same place. This includes opening up your mental state in addition to your physical state of being. Expanding your mind is growth as is expanding your physical experience.
It is all expansion rather than contraction. And remember always:
