Why You Need To Give Your Skin The Day Off

Why You Need To Give Your Skin The Day Off

Your skin tries very hard to maintain homeostasis, the perfect balance. But when we use too many products, our skin doesn’t get the chance to complete its important processes that maintain healthy, youthful, and luminous skin.

The most important processes take place while we sleep, but it doesn't hurt to give our skin a day or two off a week where it can breathe for the entire day as well.

Of course the type of products you use play a major role. While I certainly recommend steering clear of cosmetics every now and again, since they can clog up the pores, especially if you sweat, there are natural skincare products that I actually encourage you to keep up with, even on makeup-free days.

In this article, I will talk a little bit more about that, as well as share one ingredient that is all your skin really ever needs, no matter your skin type!

Ease up on the conventional moisturizer

We are constantly encouraged to slather our skin in moisturizer to defy gravity and ensure our complexions stay youthful. However, if you’re using a moisturizer that is mainly water and a few more filler ingredients, then you are only really giving your skin a temporary boost.

Did you know that many conventional moisturizers also contain ingredients that may clog up your pores, which kind of defeats the purpose of “letting your skin breathe.”

Just because your skin is dry, doesn’t mean you need a heavy cream...

What your skin really needs

Of course, I am not saying you should skip the moisturizer altogether!

What you actually need is the right moisturizer, one with antioxidants, vitamins, bioactive ingredients, and fatty acids.

I would say antioxidants are a lot more important than moisturizing if you had to choose one. After all, giving your skin antioxidants does not stop it from doing its job of moisturizing itself. A healthy dose of antioxidants helps your skin produce moisture and repair tissue; they work underneath the skin at a cellular level to improve the condition of the outer layer.

That brings me to the one ingredient your skin actually needs…

Sea Buckthorn, of course!

Swell Skin’s Sea Buckthorn oil is a powerhouse of antioxidants to give your skin the healthiest ingredients so it can return to you your healthiest skin. Read more about the amazing properties of Sea Buckthorn and its miraculous effect on your skin.

Achieving healthy, happy skin shouldn’t be complicated. If it feels like it is then it may be time to switch things up. It really is the simplest routine, with the most nutrient-dense ingredients that provide the right type of results!
